Private financial firm

New York, NY

Commissioned to create an 8,500 squarefoot office for a private equity firm’s 42 employees in midtown Manhattan, BR Design recognized the demanding environment of private equity by balancing the stimulation of dynamic contemporary architecture with the comfort of classic modern furnishings, sophisticated lighting and a color palette of grays, beiges and greens. The private equity workplace is an intensive landscape, populated by top financial, accounting and legal talent spending long, concentrated and stressful hours to craft proprietary deals for affluent individuals and financial institutions making capital investments in companies that are not publicly traded. Investment professionals in private equity are well compensated for their efforts— based on a fee structure comprising a management fee of two percent of assets and a performance fee of 20 percent of gross profits—but their clients routinely expect extraordinary results. The space created by BR Design addresses the situation through appropriate form and function. With a generous ratio of private offices to open plan workstations, a gracious reception area and an inviting pantry, plus an abundance of daylight and outdoor views visible through the glass fronts of the private offices, the space offers an optimum milieu for both the smallest details and the biggest deals.
